In the milieu of competing religions, I always found the “don’t take our word for it, try it and make your own judgment” aspect of Buddhism a little refreshing. I find the world of nutrition to be full of similarly competing claims. Yes, there are numerous scientific studies, and I am a big fan of science. But for some reason this area seems to get more confusing the more you dig into it. Lots of studies conflict. So I am embarking on my own n=1 study. I don’t expect my findings to be relevant to anyone but me, and I acknowledge my subjective assessment may not be accurate or complete.
I have to say that so far I have been pleasantly surprised by my experience. Granted I have been working mostly on intermittent fasting principles, but I have begun to branch out into longer experiments as well.
I am approaching this not as a trend or a fad, but rather as a personal attempt to understand the biological underpinnings of the food consumption cycle and the physiological implications of our modern relationship with food.
So while I am focusing on my n=1 process (so far so good) and clearly YMMV, I am curious if anyone else has any experiences or practices in this area that you would like to share.
