I wasn't sure whether to post this thread here or in Public Policy. I read this article today and can't get it out of my mind, so just had to share. My initial reaction was that the article spoke to the need to raise the minimum wage. But on so many levels, the article is about poor choices, the exhaustion that can leave one liable to make poor choices and the extremes that the working poor go through to survive. On the one hand, the article makes me appreciative of my job, albeit soul sucking but with good benefits, yet, at the same time feeling disturbed at the disparity of lives and lifestyles that result from our current system (and perhaps all systems). Thoughts?
